Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Park Picks for April 4, 2021

What a Saturday it was for Ricky’s Rockets🚀 ! It was so nice to get Aqueduct back in the mix after some time away from New York. In regards to the landscape of the sport, it was great to watch three Kentucky Derby (G1) preps, and four Kentucky Oaks (G1) preps. With all that being said, Sunday’s action is highlighted by Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Park on Easter!

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park and 9-race preview of Santa Anita Park!

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park April 4, 2021

Race 7: $12,500-$10,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the turf

#5 Big Man Bob can compete with this group on his best day, but none of us know when that’s going to come. He has plenty of races that fit in nicely, and some others that need to be forgotten about. #6 Spinning Kitten is definitely the more consistent of the two having finished second and third in two races this year. He should be able to get to the front end and have the chance of going gate-to-wire.

Race 8: $6,250 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#7 Liesel finally broke her maiden after 10 career starts, giving her the chance to win two races in a row. All of these runners have never won two races, but it looks like she might be getting better with time. #9 Shakem has been running for close to twice the amount of money as she will be in this one. It’s not much of a drop, but a drop nonetheless.

Race 9: $16,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#4 Miss Jen has lost to some of the runners she will have to beat in this race, and is completely pace dependent. Maybe she can find some more pace to close into for this start. #6 Towa is a much more likely winner given her ability to lead the race. In her last start, she lost the rider at the start. Joe Bravo will want to get her to the lead quickly out of the gate.

Race 10: $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going about 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf

#1 Katama Moonlight took quite some time break her maiden but after nine attempts, she finally graduates. This is a proper spot for her in her first race against winners as well. #10 Come Storming has earned her chance to be protected after two quality races against Claiming competition. She will have to overcome leaving Mike Maker’s barn, which is always a tough thing to do.
