Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park Picks for March 25, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets🚀 took advantage of a massive weekend and cashed some winning tickets in the process. Last Saturday, we were able to cash a Pick 5 from Oaklawn bringing home $5,121.85, along with Pick 5 tickets from Gulfstream Park and the Fair Grounds! We have one final weekend to wrap up the month, as the Kentucky Derby gets closer and closer.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park and 9-race preview of Oaklawn Park.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 25, 2021

Race 7: $20,000-$16,000 Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 5 furlongs on the turf

#4 Sovereign Warrior has finished in the money consistently at this level, so there’s no real reason to think he won’t be able to do so again. Let’s throw the stakes race from March 13 out, because he never should’ve been involved. #6 King of Rock gets a massive trainer upgrade as he moves from Michelle Nihei to Mike Maker. This isn’t to cast aspersions on anyone, but Maker is one of the best in the business, and as a result King of Rock should run one of his best races.

Race 8: $35,000-$25,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Twirling Faith only knows how to run one way, and that’s taking the race to the rest of the field. She dominated her Gulfstream Park debut at this level last time out. She can easily do that again at a similar price. #5 Ms Meshak makes the move from Joe Orseno to Georgina Baxter. Baxter does a great job off of the Claim in these types of situations.

Race 9: $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 5 furlongs on the turf

#3 Lenzi’s Lucky Lady won at this level three starts back to wrap up her 2020 campaign. She followed that race up with two straight turf starts against Stakes runners. Let’s consider this race a drop in class, even though this isn’t an easy field. #5 Tracy Ann’s Legacy has only finished outside of the top three in one race here at Gulfstream Park. She will have to get a little quicker to win, but I don’t think it’s an unachievable task.

Race 10: $25,000-$20,000 Maiden Claiming for 3-year-old fillies going 5 furlongs on the turf

#1 Julie Bird has gotten better and better with each start, but she hasn’t been able to find the winners’ circle as of yet. She comes into this race 0/6, but it’s been evident she can get the job done talent wise. Edgard Zayas was aboard when she finished second last time out. #2 T. Waltz finished second at the $50,000 Maiden Claiming level just a couple of weeks ago. She will try the turf for the first time as she looks to make her second career effort a winning one.
