Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream Park and Oaklawn Park Picks for March 14, 2021

Well it was another fantastic Saturday for Ricky’s Rockets🚀! We do have one more day to make it count, as we try to close the weekend with a bang. Like we have been all weekend, we’re back looking to cash tickets! We saw a lot of great stakes action on Saturday, but Sunday has just as many great opportunities to make some money as well.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park, 9-race preview of Oaklawn Park and 8-race preview of Santa Anita Park.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 14, 2021

Race 7: $75,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the turf

#2 Raison d’Air was put to a test a little earlier than he would’ve liked to last time out at this level. I do believe the turf is where he’s run his best races, and has the ability to improve off of that effort. #3 Safe Conduct looked good in his turf debut at Saratoga last year. That was his only race on the grass and he won very easily. Can he return to the same form he had last summer?

Race 8: $12,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#2 Nacho Papa has had success at this level in the past, so I expect him to run similar to what he did in those traces. Both of those races came when he was in Jorge Delgado’s barn as well. #3 Honolulu Express won at this level last time out going gate-to-wire. The speed figures don’t come back strong from that race, but I’m not leaving him off.

Race 9: $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#2 Caira continued to gain ground two starts back at this level to close out the year. Roger Attfield his trainer, is still looking for his first win of the meet. Maybe he can get it here as Junior Alvarado looks to share his mastery of the turf with this mare. #7 Osaka Girl looks to be the best on paper, but she finishes second a lot. I have a feeling she will get it done, as all of the other runners have some questions they need to answer.

Race 10: $25,000-$20,000 Maiden Claiming for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the turf

#3 Love Life debuted at Tampa Bay Downs for Kathy Ritvo, who owns and trains the three year old by Raison d’Etat. Things haven’t worked out the way she would’ve hoped, but this spot does make sense for him. #7 Exponential finished second at this level and has been much better in 2021. He makes a lot of sense as Luis Saez picks up the mount again.
