Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream, Oaklawn, and Santa Anita Picks for March 13, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Gulfstream, Oaklawn, and Santa Anita Picks for March 13, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets🚀 simply has been on top of it lately, cashing tickets from all over the country. After bringing home two Pick 4’s and two Pick 5’s from Oaklawn and Santa Anita, we look to continue the momentum. We have a great day of stakes action ahead of us on Saturday afternoon, highlighted by the Rebel Stakes (G2). Some of these horses will be headed to the Kentucky Derby (G1), while some may take alternate routes. Be a part of it all right here, and take chance to make some good money!

Also included below: my 12-race preview of Gulfstream Park, 12-race preview of Oaklawn Park and 9-race preview of Santa Anita Park.

Best of luck!

Gulfstream Park March 13, 2021

Race 9: Maiden Special Weight for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the turf

#1 Gwaun River Valley makes the move from dirt to turf for Christophe Clement. He also will make his Gulfstream debut as well, while making the transition. Based on his debut going 8 furlongs on the dirt, there’s a lot to be excited about here. #8 Fly Like an Eagle earned his chance to run at this level again given the way he competed in his debut. He was all over the track, being forced to weave in and out of runners down the stretch. Jose Ortiz will look to give him a similar ride again.

Race 10: $25,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#2 Funnybet has only finished outside of the top three once, and that came in her debut a long time ago. Since that moment in time, she’s done about everything right and continues to be one of my favorite fillies here at Gulfstream. #5 Never Forget has been running against much tougher fillies in the past. Her most notable race was her third place finish in the 8 Belles Stakes (G2) last year at Churchill Downs. Watch out for her at 12/1.

Race 11: Silks Run Stakes for 4-year-olds and upward going 5 furlongs on the turf

#4 Carotari absolutely dominates when he runs here at Gulfstream Park. The last time he ran over this turf course, was in this race last year. He won going gate-to-wire and did so in style. He’s only won one race since then, but he gets back to his favorite track. #6 Mai Ty One On will try stakes competition for the first time in his career, after 30 races. He’s definitely earned this opportunity, but this will be his biggest test. Let’s see if he can win three races in a row, and 4/5.

Race 12: $12,500 Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#4 Danzing Dunhill makes his first start in quite some time. He was in pretty good form before he ran on May 29 at Tampa Bay Downs. He’s an interesting candidate to be claimed, since he’s lightly raced, and is only four years old. #5 Digital Footprint simply makes sense in this spot, and the Mike Maker/Tyler Gaffalione combination is one that shouldn’t be left off. This duo is sure to take a lot of money, but he looks tough given his two races against similar competition, two and three starts back.
