Ricky’s Rockets ?: Del Mar, Gulfstream Park and Saratoga Picks for July 31, 2020

What a day we put together at Gulfstream Park! We cashed the Late Pick 5 and the Late Pick 4 to get a combined $800 profit, and it was all right here! We are back at Saratoga for a 10-race program, where the Friday feature is the Coronation Cup for 3-year-old fillies going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf

Race 7: $40,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#4 Blanket of Roses won at the $50,000 Claiming level three starts back at Gulfstream Park. He is better than what this group has to offer and he has handled the distance in the past. #10 Dynadrive also makes his way from Gulfstream as he makes a lateral move at this level. He lost to Blanket of Roses back on February 23, but he’s in form as of late.

Race 8: Allowance for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#8 Flashpackinbarbie drew clear in her return to the track against open competition last time out. That race was most likely a tuneup to this start, where she looks to give Jorge Abreu his second win of the meet. #9 Jewel of Arabia finally figured things out in her fourth start on a sloppy track. She’s extremely talented and her first win may be the start of a great year.

Race 9: Coronation Cup for 3-year-old fillies going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf

#6 Bredenbury may ultimately want longer than this distance, but she beat She’s My Type easily in the Lady Shipman Stakes last time out. Luis Saez will look to get Graham Motion’s barn going – he doesn’t have a win yet at the meet. #8 Artie’s Princess makes her first turf start for Wesley Ward. She’s 3-for-4 in her career and has run well as a heavy favorite on multiple occasions. Many runners who have success on synthetic surfaces find similar results when they transition to the grass.

Race 10: Starter Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#3 Lido Key hasn’t been on top of her game as of late but she hasn’t been given enough pace to close into. The extra 1/2-furlong should help her immensely. #7 Come Storming broke her maiden in her sixth career start. It says something that the connections, after putting her in for a tag, protect her in the following start. Things are trending upward for the 4-year-old daughter by Get Stormy.
