Saratoga August 27, 2021

Race 8: West Point Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#2 Rinaldi is coming off of a nice win in the Forbidden Apple (G3) last time out over this turf course. He’s only lost one race in five attempts, and won this race last year. #8 Mo Ready hasn’t fared all that well in stakes races, but he’s a better runner now. The last stakes he competed in, was taken off fo the grass on May 31.

Race 9: Albany Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

#2 Americanrevolution has won two races in a row and is clearly the most accomplished of the bunch. He seems like the horse to beat if he runs his best race. #5 Bobby Bo broke his maiden on the west coast for Bob Baffert, in his first race going long. Many people will be hoping Bobby Bo loses, but if he’s shipping across the country, he has to be considered.

Race 10: Yaddo Handicap for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the Melon turf

#3 Myhartblongstodady faces New York bred competition for the first time since the Ticonderoga Stakes last October. She also won this race last year over Labor Day weekend the race prior to the Ticonderoga Stakes. #4 Giacosa isn’t quite on this level, but she has been ultra consistent. She makes sense at a price with the red-hot Luis Saez.

Race 11: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#7 War Novel makes his first start for Brad Cox after leaving Chad Brown’s barn. He was able to show some speed out of the gate, but he will need to improve to win. #8 Fast Gordon should’ve won last time out, but he got caught by Gateway Guardian at the wire. He clearly was the best horse, even though he didn’t win.
