Ricky’s Rockets ?: Churchill Downs and Del Mar Picks for November 26, 2020

Happy Thanksgiving from Ricky’s Rockets?! It’s been a great time of the year as we head into another fantastic week of racing. We’ve been able to cash $1,500 Pick 5’s for four straight weeks including two out of four days last week at Churchill Downs at Del Mar. This is the time to hop on board if you have been missing out. Thanksgiving day has two great cards from Churchill Downs and Del Mar, with a heavy focus on Churchill Downs.

Also included below: my 8-race preview of Del Mar.

Best of luck!

Race 8: $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Secondary Market proved she’s not one of the best fillies in the country due to her efforts in the Prioress Stakes (G2) and the Raven Run Stakes (G2), but she’s a top runner in the AOC ranks. #10 Lake Avenue hasn’t been the same in 2020 running against Swiss Skydiver. This could be a perfect bounce back spot for her.

Race 9: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#6 Rubus finished gets back to his best distance after trying 7 furlongs for the first time since last year. He’s one of the better sprinters int he country, and he probably went a little longer than he originally wanted to last time out at Keeneland. #7 Sombeyay makes his return to the track in over 5 months, when he was in Todd Pletcher’s barn. He was strictly running on the turf, making his first dirt start since 2019.

Race 10: Falls City Handicap (G2) for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

#3 Bonny South looked like one of the best fillies in the country going into the Ashland Stakes over the summer. She’s still extremely talented, but is looking for her first win since March. #5 Our Super Freak makes her first start at Churchill Downs for Cherie DeVaux. Like Bonny South, she hasn’t won a race in multiple efforts, even though she was facing much better, including older fillies and mares.

Race 11: Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Gallant Plunger can be a surprise in this spot as he returns to the races for the first time since April. Nothing was reported in his camp as he came out of that race in good shape. Hopefully he can find that form he once held earlier in the year. #6 Pirate Rick really took to the Churchill Downs dirt in his. Last start, was much different than his first two, as he took the lead, and drove away from the field.
