Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Canterbury Park and Saratoga Picks for August 19, 2020 August 18, 2020 Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Canterbury Park and Saratoga Picks for August 19, 2020 August 18, 2020 By: Ricky Pasternak email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article We are back to kick off a brand new week at the SPA. Wednesday’s feature is the Bolton Landing Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf. Also included below: my 10-race preview of Canterbury Park for FREE! Best of luck! ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Race 6: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the inner turf #1 Rivendell won on debut for Bill Mott down at Belmont going 7 furlongs on the turf. Bill Mott doesn’t win with first-timers often, indicating this runner may be special. #3 In Front finally got the job done in her sixth career start. There isn’t a ton of speed signed on so Joel Rosario will have the option to have her forwardly placed into the first turn. Race 7: Allowance for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt There were a lot of directions to go in this spot. #5 Quickflash has tried this level a few times for John Kimmel. He lost to Tale of the Union, who is extremely talented, and Big Thicket, who he will see again in this spot. Speaking of which, #7 Big Thicket gets Luis Saez, who will certainly have him on the lead. This jockey switch is an upgrade due to his running style. Race 8: Bolton Landing Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going 5 1/2 furlongs on the outer turf #2 Joy’s Rocket will be out early on for Steve Asmussen. His filly is 2/2 in her career and her last race was on the synthetic at Woodbine. The artificial surface tends to translate well to the turf in regards to how a horse will perform. #8 Amanzi Yimpilo was 3/5 on debut and drew away from the field every step of the way. It’s a positive sign she took money and ran like she was supposed to. This is one of the price horses to keep an eye on in the feature. Race 9: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the inner turf #1 Big Al’s Gal took a massive step forward in her second career start. She looked to be a better dirt runner than turf runner, but the improvement shows her best may be ahead of her. #8 Women Not Easy showed speed in her first start on the turf two starts back. In her last start, she was steadied multiple times and not able to find a way through. A cleaner trip makes her incredibly tough to beat.
