Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Gulfstream Park and Keeneland Picks for October 14, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets 🚀 got the action rolling again on Wednesday afternoon, cashing in on the 8-race card. The JPMorgan Jessamine Stakes (G2) lived up to the hype, giving us an indication on some young fillies to keep an eye on moving forward. We are back on Thursday from Belmont, Keeneland and Gulfstream Park, as we look to keep the momentum rolling!

Also included below: my 9-race preview of Belmont Park, 10-race preview of Keeneland and 9-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Belmont Park October 14, 2021

Race 6: $25,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Exact Change has been 66/1 and 24/1 in her two starts to this point in her career. With that said, she switches to the dirt here, and I think she provides some value as a longshot. #10 Myra Fleener makes her debut for Todd Pletcher, who owns and trains this daughter by Munnings. She makes a lot of sense given what the other runners have already shown on the track.

Race 7: $20,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#6 Bingo John won an Allowance race back in August when he was at Saratoga. His last-place finish in the Albany Stakes shouldn’t be held against him last time out. #7 Fast Break will look to break sharply from the gate, as he returns to Belmont Park. He’s yet to finish outside of the top three when running over this main track.

Race 8: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#2 Golden Plume wasn’t able to follow up her dominant win on debut with a win against Allowance runners at Saratoga. Her second career races also came on the back of close to a seven-month layoff. #3 Messidor debuted in the United Stakes in the Saratoga Oaks (G3) on August 8. When dropping down to a similar level to what she will be seeing here, she finished third by just a neck.

Race 9: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#3 Majestic Tiger still has never been able to replicate his debut, running 6 furlongs on the inner turf at this level. He is still looking for his first career win after four attempts. #5 Giramonte is the classic “doesn’t like to win” type of horse. He’s really had no reason not to capture his first win, given the multitude of chances he’s already had.
