Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Belmont Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita Park Picks for October 23, 2020 October 22, 2020 Handicapping Ricky’s Rockets ?: Belmont Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita Park Picks for October 23, 2020 October 22, 2020 By: Ricky Pasternak email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article We are just two weeks away from the best weekend in the sport. The Breeders’ Cup is quickly approaching, but there is still great racing on Friday afternoon from across the country as well! Also included below: my 10-race preview of Keeneland and 9-race preview of Santa Anita. Best of luck! ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Race 7: $40,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt #5 Build to Suit finished fifth going 7 furlongs at the $80,000 level for Chad Brown in his last start. This is a big drop in class, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see someone plunge and take a chance with him. Race 8: $30,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the inner turf #5 More Mango just couldn’t keep up last time out against come tough fillies on the turf. Hopefully he gets some added distance to work with, meaning a potential for a slower pace early on. #8 Come Storming tries Claiming competition for the first time after running against Starter Allowance runners in his last three starts. Race 9: $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt #3 Americanus was last seen in April at Gulfstream Park in the Unbridled Stakes for Mark Henning. He was one of the best three year olds in Florida, and will have his chance to reclaim that title moving forward as he makes his return to Belmont Park. #6 Money Moves tried himself at the Kentucky. Race 10: Maiden Special Weight for 2-year-olds going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf #4 Engrave will try his luck on the turf for the first time after failing to win in either of his races on the dirt. Chad Brown gets Jose Ortiz to ride again who’s winning at 26% with his runners in the last 365 days. #12 Secret Potion is still looking for his first win after finishing second at the Maiden Special Weight level at Saratoga over the summer on the turf. He was pressed into graded-stakes action in the Summer Stakes (G1) last time out at Woodbine.
