Ricky’s Rockets ?: Belmont Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita Park Picks for October 10, 2020

Ricky’s Rockets cashes another big ticket. Friday was kind once again, this time with the early Pick 4 at Belmont Park for $920! Let’s aim for three winning days in a row as another fantastic Saturday is on tap for racing fans across the country! Belmont Park has treated fans with multiple Win and You’re In races on deck. This is the final weekend to make a claim for the first weekend in November at the Breeders’ Cup. We’ve seen many of these names in the past, but they’re are newcomers looking to make a name for themselves on the biggest stage in the sport.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Keeneland and 9-race preview of Santa Anita.

Best of luck!

Race 8: Flower Bowl Stakes (G1) for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/4 miles (10 furlongs) on the inner turf

#2 My Sister Nat is looking for her first win here at Belmont Park after finishing second and third twice in two starts over this turf course. She also does come into this race with a win at this distance which came back in France in 2018. #3 Civil Union got the best of My Sister Nat in the Glens Falls Stakes (G2) on September 5. She got the better trip and got the jump on My Sister Nat before the stretch drive.

Race 9: Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1) for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/4 miles (10 furlongs) on the dirt

#1 Happy Saver is undefeated in his career as he looks to claim a spot in the Breeders’ Cup. He’s gotten better and better with each start, and looks to stay unbeaten at Belmont Park. #4 Tacitus has faced some of the best older horses in the country coming into this spot. He will be the favorite as they enter the gate, due to resume and past races.

Race 10: Sands Point Stakes (G2) for 3-year-old fillies going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#3 Selflessly has two wins going eight furlongs in her career for Christophe Clement, who’s winning at 32% at the meet. She will need another filly in this spot to establish a quick pace up front for her to close into. #5 Miss J McKay may just be that runner that will look to establish herself on the front end. There isn’t much speed to contend with in this spot so it’s imperative she gets to the lead and slows down the pace. This will be the first time John Velazquez and Cathal Lynch team up as a jockey/trainer combination in the last calendar year.

Race 11: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred 2-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#10 Amity Island is a first time starter for Chad Brown who has been nothing short of spectacular here at Belmont as a trainer. His runners have finished in the money on 27/43 occurrences to start the meet. #11 Violentiam was scheduled for the turf in her debut at Saratoga on August 28. Let’s see how she does when she finally makes her debut on the grass.
