It’s Thursday afternoon, which means Ricky’s Rockets 🚀 is back at Belmont, Gulfstream Park and Keeneland. We did a pretty good job at Keeneland on Wednesday afternoon, but it’s time to keep the momentum going. Thew countdown to the Breeders’ Cup continues as we get closer to just two weeks away!

Belmont Park October 14, 2021

Race 6: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the inner turf

#1 Flop Shot made his first start of the year at this level at the end of September. Look for him to be much better as he starts to find his fitness again. #3 Value Engineering has tried this level on multiple occasions. Even though he hasn’t won in well over a tear, he always manages to run a pretty good race.

Race 7: Maiden Special Weight for 2-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt

#6 Mo Donegal only has one start under his belt, but it was a pretty good race. He was able to finish third, after breaking toward the back of the pack out of the gate. This distance should suit him much better as well. #7 Fromanothamutha looked good on the stretch-out in distance for Ray Handal. This colt continues to trend in the right direction.

Race 8: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the widener turf

It’s hard to look past the two Repole Stable runners, as #1 Bodecream and #1A Mo Ready enter as a coupled entry. Both have the ability to control the race on or near the lead. #9 Doswell will need the lead to win, so it’s perfect he drew the outside. Will he be able to win coming off of close to a 9 month layoff? That’s the question that needs to be answered.

Race 9: Allowance for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#1 Marvelous Maude should’ve won last time out in this spot, just missing at the wire. If she’s able to run the same race she did on that afternoon, she’s going to win. #12 Sweet Franny Lu will look to make it two in a row, after winning at Belmont at the beginning of the month. She will have her work cut out for her as she breaks from the far outside.
