Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Ellis Park and Gulfstream Park Picks for June 27, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 ended the Churchill Downs meet with a bang, by taking down Stephen Foster Day. The big days across the country continue to be profitable, and this one was no different. As Churchill Downs ends, Ellis Park begins and we are right there for it. We head to Henderson, Kentucky for the first time ever and look to make it two winning days in a row!

Also included below: my 9-race preview of Belmont Park, 8-race preview of Ellis Park, 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Belmont Park June 27, 2021

Race 6: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#1 Noble Journey has a lot of pedigree that would suggest he would want to go longer. His past performances also suggest he wants to go longer given his lack of speed. #4 Bar Fourteen will want to win this race on the front end, as he likes to grab the lead. Two races back, he lost to Ocala Dream, who went on to win a stakes race in his next start.

Race 7: Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Tale of the Union has finished a tough luck second in three straight races, but maybe the new calendar year will help. This is his first start of the year, and maybe he will be better as a five year old. #3 Mr Phil has been on a roll lately, winning his last race, and finishing in the top two in 5/7 races this year for Jimmy Ryerson.

Race 8: $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the inner turf

#1 Olympico was last seen in the Knickerbocker Stakes (G2) last year, when he finished second to Devamani. This is the perfect spot for a strong return to the track. #4 Breakpoint is a complete unknown in the United States, but we have to trust Chad Brown and Javier Castellano, on an undefeated colt.

Race 9: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the widener turf

#4 Babagram is expected to show some speed as a $180,000 purchase in 2018, bred by City Zip. There’s a lot to like about his set up on paper. #11 Hot Doctor remains on the turf after a much better performance on May 22. It looks about the same as his debut, but he looked a lot more comfortable on the turf as opposed to the dirt.
