Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Santa Anita Park Picks for June 20, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 certainly enjoyed the return to Arcadia, California!! It was a long time since we hit the west coast, but it was a successful trip. So much so, we have decided to make it back-to-back days and end the meet there as well. Sunday afternoon is the final time we will see racing from Santa Anita for a few months, so let’s enjoy it, and make some money!

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Belmont Park, 10-race preview of Churchill Downs, 11-race preview of Santa Anita Park!

Belmont Park June 20, 2021

Race 7: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#3 Honey Pants has been good in all of her races, which includes three stakes races. In a similar spot last time out at Gulfstream Park, she finished second by less than two lengths. She didn’t have much of an excuse to lose, but she can win here. #10 Keota makes her first start of the year as she tries to replicate 2020. She was fantastic last year finishing in the money in all five of her races between New York and Florida.

Race 8: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#2 American Revolution is going to be tough to beat if he comes back the way he left in 2020. We only saw him once last year, but he lost to Mandaloun, who is one of the best three year olds in the country. #9 Sinful Dancer gets back to the main track where he’s finished twice in two races. One of those races was against state-bred competition in the New York Stallion Stakes.

Race 9: Poker Stakes (G3) for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#1 Raging Bull answered the question: Will he ever win again? Before his win in the Makers Mark Mile (G1), he hadn’t won a race since last May. The majority of his races have been against G1 company, so he should be able to make it two in a row. #4 Get Smokin looked good in the Seek Again Stakes continuing his dominance here at Belmont Park. He’s won 3/5 races over this turf in his career for Tom Bush.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#11 Willow Grove has shown she can run at this level, but her dirt starts have been better than her turf starts. The pedigree suggests she should like the turf more, but the results on the track have said otherwise. #14 Social Whirl draws into this race, and immediately becomes a horse to use on the drop in class. Her ability to break sharply from the gate makes her even tougher against non-winners of one lifetime race against New York-bred competition.
