Ricky’s Rockets ?: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park West Picks for October 30, 2020

The Breeders’ Cup pre-entries were announced yesterday, and the excitement is starting to ramp up. Multiple races have over 20 entries, and there were some surprises thrown in as well. We are back at Belmont Park on Friday afternoon with a 10-race program, and plenty of wagering options to get involved in as well!

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Churchill Downs and 8-race preview of Gulfstream Park West.

Race 7: Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt OFF TURF

TURF RUNNERS SCRATCHED! WILL BE USING : #15 Big Bennys Tribute AND #16 Solitary Gem.

Race 8: $32,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Excess Capacity becomes one of the fillies I’m interested in solely for the barn she’s in. Bruce Levine has been on fire winning at 16% at the meet, while his runners have excelled as of late. #5 Jump for Joy finished second at this level last time out over a sloppy track. She has some of the best speed out of the gate in this field.

Race 9: Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Foolish Ghost has won 3/4 starts dating back to June when he was running for Robert Falcone Jr. Dylan Davis picks up the mount again after taking him gate-to-wire in his last start at Belmont Park going 6 furlongs.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#7 Tercero made his debut in for a tag last year, but has consistently been running against Maiden Special Weight company since. He has talent, but the connections have struggled finding his best distance. #11 Empire Express makes his first start since last year when he ran at the Maiden Special Weight level. It’s hard to imagine someone paying the price tag for a runner who hasn’t run in 10 months.
