Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for September 26, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets 🚀 are back on Sunday afternoon to wrap up the week! Parx provided plenty of excitement, playing host to eight stakes races! As I like to say, Sunday’s are meant for football and the ponies. It’s a perfect afternoon for both of those, as we look to cash some tickets in the process. Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park are the tracks to focus in on Sunday, and hope to provide as much entertainment as what we had on Saturday.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Belmont Park, 10-race preview of Churchill Downs, and 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Belmont Park September 26, 2021

Race 7: $40,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#2 Perfect attempted to win at this level last time out, but there was a ton of moisture in the track. I’m interested in watching him over a firm turf course here. #5 Made My Day drops in class after running after Starter Allowance company. John Velazquez will need to get him to show more speed than what he had shown in the past.

Race 8: Allowance for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#7 My Lips Are Sealed will look to use her speed to take this field gate-to-wire, like she’s done in the past. In her two races at Belmont Park, she has a win and a third place finish in two races. #13 Just Ok Is Not Ok has had an issue running a good race after providing her own issues on the track. When she runs well, she’s one of the best horses at this level.

Race 9: Gallant Bloom Handicap (G2) for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Bella Sofia ran all the fillies off of their feet in the Test (G1) last time out Due to that effort, she will be an extremely short price in this one. #4 Lake Avenue will look to show that she has the experience to run with this three year old phenomenon. She’s competed with Gamine, Bell’s the One and Estilo Talentoso in her last three races.

Race 10: $40,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#5 Lucky Latkes has been pretty firm and consistent at this level, running on both the turf and the dirt at Saratoga this year. She’s extremely consistent but doesn’t tend to win a lot of races. #12 Back Channel only ran once against winners, against a tough Allowance group. She was 57/1 when she won her lone race over this turf course back in June.
