Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for September 24, 2021

Ricky’s Rockets 🚀 kicked off the week with some big tickets from Churchill Downs, which had a great card at night! It’s always great when Churchill Downs gives us racing at night, as a stand alone track. We are back at it on Friday afternoon, at Belmont, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park. The feature race at Belmont Park is the Joseph A. Gimma Stakes, a seven furlong dirt sprint for 2-year-old fillies on the dirt.

Belmont Park September 24, 2021

Race 6: Maiden Special Weight for 2-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt

#2 Misbehaved never was better than fourth in his debut, but that wasn’t the troubling part. He can’t afford to get a ride like that again, where he’s four/five wide around the track. #6 Judge Davis also was never better than fourth in his debut, running an extremely similar race to Misbehaved. These two are extremely similar on paper, but I think Judge Davis showed a little more early speed.

Race 7: Allowance for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt OFF TURF

Race 8: Jospeph A. Gimma Stakes for New York-bred 2-year-old fillies going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Velvet Sister is still looking for her first win since her maiden score back in June. That win came over this track, and will put her undefeated record on the line here. #6 November Rein beat Velvet Sister in the Seeking the Ante Stakes, with ease. She will be on the lead, and it will be up to everyone else to catch her down the stretch.

Race 9: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt OFF TURF
