Belmont Park September 19, 2021

Race 7: $45,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#11 Scuttlebuzz has taken a step back in his last two races, but there are excuses for that. His last race was taken off of the grass, and the race before that, he was asked to go 8 furlongs. #12 Dr. Duke will need to show his speed from the gate, if he’s going to win. With a lot of MTO’s in the field, his post position isn’t too bad.

Race 8: $45,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Brattle House was just a neck away from holding an undefeated record. She makes her Belmont Park debut, as she looks to keep her stellar record in tact. #7 Ifihadachance finished fourth at this level last time out, up in Saratoga Springs. She’s been much better when Luis Saez has been aboard as well.

Race 9: Pebbles Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#1 Plum Ali has been battle tested on multiple occasions in the build-up to this race. In all four of her starts this year, she’s faced graded-stakes competition. #12 Runaway Rumour comes into this race undefeated here at Belmont Park, which includes wins on both turf courses. Jose Lezcano was aboard when she broke her maiden back in May.

Race 10: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#1 Hellman makes his debut for Jorge Abreu, who will feel confident in his runners chances to win on debut. This son by Empire Maker has some fantastic pedigree, making him a true contender in his first start. #12 Tallis finally gets the chance to make his first start on the turf, after his last two races were put on the dirt. Maybe the switch in surfaces will help his chances of capturing a win.
