Belmont Park September 16, 2021

Race 6: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-old fillies going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#6 Sport Model has won three straight races, and has looked like a star on the grass. The only race she lost, was back in April when she lost Junior Alvarado. #7 Misspell makes her way from Woodbine, where she ran in a stakes race last time out. Prior to that effort, she finished second at this level on opening weekend at Saratoga.

Race 7: $40,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

Linda Rice brings #1 Clench and #1A Happy Farm to the track, as they make their first starts off of the claim. Happy Farm is easily the more talented of the two runners. #4 Free Enterprise won his last race, but did it in Chad Brown’s barn. He will look to make it three wins in a row overall, as Jeff Englehart takes over.

Race 8: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/4 miles (10 furlongs) on the inner turf

#2 Temple only has one win on his resume dating back to the beginning 2020. I thought his Lure Stakes performance was much better than the running lines would suggest. #6 Kinenos won in this very race back in April for Brad Cox. Since that win, he’s finished off the board in two stakes races here at Belmont Park.

Race 9: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the widener turf

#2 Mondeuse has been extremely close to winning on multiple occasions. Maybe a simple barn switch will help her get to the winners’ circle. #10 Bella Principessa didn’t finish too far behind Mondeuse when they faced each other on August 5. They have pretty similar resumes on paper and on the track.
