Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for May 30, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 heads towards Sunday afternoon with just a few days before the end of the month. We’ve witnessed so much great racing to this point, but it’s not ending any time soon. This magical run of cashing tickets has continued, and we are hoping we can continue it here, as we try to wrap up the month in style!

Also included below: my 9-race preview of Belmont Park, 9-race preview of Churchill Downs, 10-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Best of luck!

Belmont Park May 30, 2021

Race 6: $20,000 Maiden Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#4 Futuro comes into this race with only one start under his belt, and that was a challenging debut at that. He went 8 1/2 furlongs on debut which is always a tough ask, let alone a debutant. #10 Core Curriculum will shift his efforts to New York to try and break his maiden for Todd Pletcher. He has to get much better if he’s going to ever win a race.

Race 7: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/4 miles (10 furlongs) on the dirt

Only #1A Dynadrive will be running today! The other part of the entry #1 Temple will not be running! The last time #3 Limonite was on a sloppy track, he finished third in the Stymie Stakes to Mr. Buff. He doesn’t need to do much more to get the job done in this tough Allowance Optional Claiming event.

Race 8: Paradise Creek Stakes for 3-year-olds going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

#2 Fauci has only won one race in his career, but he’s managed to finish second in all of the other races. This will be the longest he’s ever gone, but his talent has shined through time and time again. #5 Three Two Zone has never been on a sloppy track, but this horse was never on the turf prior. He has enough early speed to make him competitive in an extremely short field.

Race 9: $25,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Ob La Di should’ve won last time out at this level. She couldn’t have done anymore to get across the wire, and she was just a tough luck loser. She doesn’t need to improve at all to win this race. #13 Cazila Fortytales has only run at this level once, but that came back in 2019 at Gulfstream Park. Even though it was a lone time ago, it was her best race of her career.
