Belmont Park May 28, 2021

Race 6: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#2 Cost Benefit makes her 2021 debut for Chad Brown after a solid 2020 campaign. Irad Ortiz Jr. takes the mount here, and will look to keep her winning streak going. #4 Faccio lo has only run one race here in the United States, but that was in a tough race in the Winter Memories Stakes. There aren’t many horses in the country who are capable of beating Duopoly.

Race 7: $25,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Wild Union will attempt to be Peter Miller’s first winner of the meet, which is pretty shocking. He doesn’t have a runner that’s finished in the top three as of yet either. He’s bound to break out of this cold streak soon. #3 Victory Built has been a mixed bag in regards to his results, but in two races here at Belmont Park, he did manage to win one of them. Manny Franco is one of the better riders he’s had in quite some time, as he attempts 7 furlongs for the first time in his career.

Race 8: $80,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 3-year-old fillies going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#10 Nevisian Sunrise faces winners for the first time after breaking her maiden at Keeneland. She has shown consistent progression in every race she’s run. #11 Classic Colors will look for her third win in a row, and stay undefeated at Belmont Park in the process. Jose Ortiz will look to put her into a good position to strike around the far turn.

Race 9: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#4 Uncle Mo’s Cat ran into an extremely tough field on debut, and now gets to make his turf debut. His lack of experience on the grass could mean he’s a much improved runner on this surface. #11 Congrats for Glory ran on May 2 for the first time since last August. His most recent race was his first on the turf, so it’s plausible he’ll take to it in his second start. He wasn’t too far away from the lead losing by less than three lengths.
