Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for May 23, 2021

#RickysRockets🚀 continues to cash tickets and no matter the track, we are making money! For the third straight day, we’ve cashed tickets, with Churchill Downs being the highlight on Saturday night! Nothing wrong with a $257 Pick 4, and a $1,150 Pick 5 to end what was a fantastic day once again! It’s easily the best stretch we’ve been on, but it’s time to wrap up the weekend on a positive note. We are officially less than two weeks away from the Belmont Stakes as well.

Also included below: my 9-race preview of Belmont Park, 10-race preview of Churchill Downs, 11-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Best of luck!

Belmont Park May 23, 2021

Race 6: Starter Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Mr Phil has found his best stride as of late, finishing first or second in his last three races. Jose Ortiz was aboard in his most recent win at the $35,000 Claiming level. I believe he’s one of the stronger singles on the card if one wanted to go that way. #7 Meetmeincali is one of the better long shots on the card in my book as well. He has been pretty good this year at solid prices. He doesn’t deserve to be this high and if he does, the value jumps off of the page.

Race 7: Starter Allowance for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#3 Summer in the City broke her maiden last year at Gulfstream Park, but we haven’t seen her since then. If she is ready to roll, she will be competitive in this spot. #7 Mopolka steps up in class for Linda Rice here, but comes into this race having won two in a row. She deserves a chance to run in a race where she can’t be claimed due to her recent success.

Race 8: $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

This might as well be a stakes race given how talented this field is. #1 Call Me Love hasn’t won a race here in the United States, but this is also the easiest spot for her in quite some time as well. #4 Speaktomeofsummer also has plenty of stakes experience, and the way Christophe Clement is going, I’m not going to bet against any of his runners on the grass.

Race 9: $25,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#2 Kikkerland looks attractive due to his most recent races, but Saffie Joseph Jr. takes over for Rob Atras. He becomes even more playable now, and Irad Ortiz Jr. doesn’t hurt his chances either. #5 Joey Loose Lips lost to Kikkerland last time out, but it was his debut. He has the most upside based on the way he looked at this level on April 10.
