Belmont Park June 6, 2021

Race 6: $30,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#2 Appreciate is arguably the toughest horse to bet on considering the amount of times he finishes in second and third. In 38 appearances on the track, he’s finished in the money in 16 of them, with only one win. #7 Jades Gelly is better than this group, but she’s been competing against Allowance runners and Starter Allowance runners for the majority of her career. This is the easiest group she’s faced to date, and Wesley Ward comes into this one winning at 42% at the meet.

Race 7: Jersey Girl Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Bella Sofia has been the most impressive filly of the meet at Belmont Park to this point, winning her only race by more than 11 lengths. She faces winners for the first time in her career, but there’s nothing to indicate she can’t win in this spot. #4 Australasia comes into this race undefeated, but she hasn’t beaten anyone that could run against this talented group of fillies. This is also her first start without Lasix as well.

Race 8: $100,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for 4-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the widener turf

#1 Value Proposition has won both of his races against Allowance Optional Claiming runners, and he has a strong chance to win this race as well. He’s never finished outside the top three at Belmont Park either. #7 Halladay hasn’t won a race since the Fourstardave Handicap (G1) last August. This is the class of the field and the most talented in the race.

Race 9: $30,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#9 Cowtown only has one race over this turf course, and he was absolutely dreadful last year on it. He’s an extremely vulnerable morning-line favorite, but we trust Todd Pletcher to have him ready to go. #12 Michael’s Bad Boy faced winners for the first time in his last race, but that was against Allowance runners. This is a much better spot for him in only his third start of the year.
