Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Belmont Park, Churchill Downs and Gulfstream Park Picks for June 5, 2021

THE DAY HAS FINALLY COME! BELMONT STAKES DAY HAS ARRIVED! #RickysRockets🚀 heads to Elmont, New York to cover the action live! This is one of my favorite days of the year, and the card is action-packed. We will be live to cover 9 stakes races (8 G1, and 1 G2) as part of the 13-race card on tap. There are storylines everywhere, and plenty of opportunities to make money as well!

Also included below: my 13-race preview of Belmont Park, 11-race preview of Churchill Downs, 12-race preview of Gulfstream Park!

Best of luck!

Churchill Downs June 5, 2021

Race 8: Maiden Special Weight for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Chastain has some upside after running her debut about four weeks ago here at Churchill Downs. She broke sharply in her lone race, but wasn’t able to overcome a wide trip. Let’s see if she can overcome the rail spot here. #2 Lil Town Sis ran in the same race as Chastain, and closed with full force. It’s up for the bettors to decide if she passed tired horses, or if she will be better in this one?

Race 9: Allowance for 3-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the turf

#6 Go Big Green was pretty good last time out in this exact same race, but she ran into a powerful runner in Gam’s Mission. Gam’s Mission just won the Regret Stakes (G3), and has won 3/4 races in her career. #9 Social Dilemma wins the consistency award, having finished in the money in every race but one in her five race career. Colby Hernandez gets the mount for the sixth straight race.

Race 10: Starter Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Kadri makes his first start for Norman Cash after winning his last race for Larry Jones. After that win, Cash keeps him in a protected spot in his first start off of the claim. That’s a good sign that this horse is getting better with each race. #7 My Man Flintstone hasn’t run a race against Claiming runners, but on September 17, he did win. That was his last win on his resume, and the last time he finished in the money as well. I’m expecting a big effort out of him in this one.

Race 11: Mighty Beau Overnight Stakes for 3-year-olds and upward going 5 furlongs on the turf

#3 Carotari comes out of a tough stakes race at Churchill Downs last time, against better turf sprinters. Breaking from the far outside didn’t help him either, so he should be much better in this one. #10 Totally Boss hasn’t been seen since last September when he ran at Kentucky downs. He’s got a ton of class, but he probably never should’ve been competing against some of those horses. On his best day, he’s probably the horse this field has to beat.
