Ricky’s Rockets ?: Belmont Park and Del Mar Picks for November 1, 2020

Saturday was like none other with plenty of stakes action across the country. Ricky’s Rockets were back at it with plenty of top-choice winners and some nice multi-race winning tickets as well. We cap off the weekend with the final day from Belmont Park to end their fall meet.

Also included below: my 9-race preview of Del Mar.

Best of luck!

Race 6: $30,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#3 Barleewon likes to come from off of the pace, but in his last race at this level, he was just too far back to get the job done. #4 Stanhope drops in for a tag for the first time. He’s never been higher than 4/1 in any of his races, but this is the first time he’s in a spot where he belongs in 2020. He should be able to get to the lead and do a better job of holding on.

Race 7: Pumpkin Pie Stakes for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Bronx Beauty makes her way to Belmont Park for the first time under Anthony Margotta Jr. who’s runners have finished in the money in 4/7 starts. #6 Never Enough Time is also a first time Belmont Park invader after running at Pimlico and Laurel in her most recent starts. She has one win at this distance, back in April 2019, when she broke her maiden.

Race 8: Chelsey Flower Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the widener turf

#7 Caldee faced a Breeders’ Cup contender in Plum Ali last time out in the Miss Grillo Stakes (G2). Now in a non-graded stakes race, she becomes the top choice. #8 Fluffy Socks has been tested as well in her three starts including the Selima Stakes. She looks to make it three in a row and continue her hot run.

Race 9: Allowance for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#6 Miss Jimmy made her Belmont Park debut last time out, and didn’t run all that well. Once she turned for home, she was all over the track. It’s tough to be wide the entire race and make a significant impact in the critical stretch of the race. #8 Flashpackinbarbie makes her first start since August 29 over a sloppy track. Manny Franco picks up the mount for the third straight race for Jorge Abreu who is winning at 23% to close out the Belmont Park fall meet.
