Ricky’s Rockets 🚀: Arlington Park, Delaware Park and Saratoga Picks for July 15, 2021

HAPPY OPENING DAY!!! #RickysRockets🚀 finally gets to go to their home away from home, and attack opening day from Saratoga! Getting an opportunity to cover this 40 meet is truly an honor, and going to be a memorable one. We had four winning days out of five at Belmont Park to wrap up the meet, but it’s a brand new week. We kick off opening day with the Quick Call Stakes and the Schuylerville Stakes (G3) as part of the FREE Pick 4 sequence on Thursday afternoon!

Saratoga July 15, 2021

Race 7: Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

Todd Pletcher has Shadwell Stables runners in here, but #1 Arham is the preferred of the two. Luis Saez has been aboard in the majority of his starts, most notably last time out where he finished third at this level. #8 Dust Devil finished just behind Arham, but he was right there throughout. Joel Rosario picks up the mount again, who will look to replicate that performance on June 19.

Race 8: Quick Call Stakes for 3-year-olds going 5 1/2 furlongs on the Mellon turf course

#3 Golden Pal is going to be the overwhelming favorite at post time, coming off of a big win at the Breeders’ Cup last November. Wesley Ward has kept this colt under wraps in preparation for this meet. #9 Jaxon Traveler makes his debut on the turf, making him a complete unknown in this spot. He probably has the best chance to upset the big favorite.

Race 9: Schuylerville Stakes (G3) for 2-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#1 Pretty Birdie was absolutely dominant on debut for Norm Casse, and its only fitting Marylou Whitney Stables enters their filly in a stakes race at Saratoga. She is one of many talented fillies that will try and win their second career race. #4 Velvet Sister should be sitting the perfect trip and have the ability to pass horses late down the stretch.

Race 10: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#5 Noble Journey hasn’t been able to show some of the early speed that I think could help him improve his performances. He did run his best race going this distance at Aqueduct last year for Jimmy Jerkins. #8 Clever Fellow has been the closest to winning a race out of anyone in the field. This horse has burned a lot of bettors money most notably losing his last three races as the favorite.
