Ricky’s Rockets ?: Aqueduct, Gulfstream Park and Los Alamitos Picks for December 13, 2020

Ricky’s Rockets? has been on a tear lately as we’ve been full force throughout the country. We were able to cash in a couple of Pick 4’s on Saturday meaning we are about to HEAT UP! No matter the day, time or track, we’ve been there to cover it. Sunday afternoon doesn’t have as many big races as Saturday, but the action is still full force.

Also included below: my 11-race preview of Gulfstream Park and 9-race preview of Los Alamitos.

Best of luck!

Race 6: $25,000 Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Cartwheel hasn’t been close in any of her races this year. She also hasn’t had a race in consecutive months since 2019. The reason I’m looking at her here is the significant drop in class from the AOC ranks to the Claiming ranks. #8 Awesome Alana finished second at this level when she was running for Linda Rice in October. She had no business running in her last race, after finishing ahead of one horse.

Race 7: $16,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#6 Runabout found herself in a different class of competition in his last start when he made his way to Aqueduct. He looked great at Monmouth Park before that race, but the runners in New York are much better. He could provide some value based on his last race. #9 Flowers for Lisa gets back to the level where he belongs which is the $16,000 level. He finished second in this exact spot on October 12 and will look to show more speed like he did on that day.

Race 8: $62,500 Allowance Optional Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#1 Ujjayi was less than a length away from winning at this level just last month. She was 12/1 in that race indicating she was slightly overlooked. There is no way she will go off at that price this time around. #4 Foxtail has won at this level three times in her last four races. She has been extremely consistent this year and gets Dylan Davis again to ride, who rode her on October 4 to victory.

Race 9: $16,000 Claiming for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#8 Mia Bea Star faced winners for the first time for the first time in her last race. She will always have her work cut out for her based on her come from behind running-style, but the slight drop in class should help. #11 Nicky Scissors has finished in the money in 2/3 races here at Aqueduct, and should run well here.
