Ricky’s Rockets ?: Aqueduct, Del Mar, and Keeneland Picks for November 7, 2020

Future stars Friday on Day 1 of the Breeders’ Cup exceeded all the hype racing fans had hoped for. The youngsters were on display for the world to see and they showed there is a lot of talent in the years to come. Saturday marks the biggest day of the year in the sport, with headlines in every race. This is the day we’ve all been waiting for at Keeneland.

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Aqueduct and 8-race preview of Del Mar.

Best of luck!

Race 9: FanDuel Breeders’ Cup Mile for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the turf

#12 Uni didn’t look herself before the First Lady Stakes (G1) on October 8 here at Keeneland. I’m hoping that race helps her get back to her best form. #13 Factor This continues to win races no matter what. He has gotten better as a five year old, and is in the best form of his life.

Race 10: Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

The battle of the two fillies is finally here. #5 Swiss Skydiver and #10 Monomoy Girl do battle in a race everyone has wanted to see for months. Swiss Skydiver has run all over the country against runners her own age. This will be the first time she runs against older fillies and mares.#10 Monomoy Girl hasn’t crossed the wire first since 2017 and hasn’t lost since 2018. She looks to make her stamp in her final race of 2020.

Race 11: Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/2 miles (12 furlongs) on the turf

#2 Magical makes her way to the United States for Aidan O’Brien for the first time since 2018. This distance may not be her best, but it’s certainly something she can handle and has a great chance to win over. #3 Tarnawa has dominated in France this year, but will look to make her mark on the biggest stage in the world. She’s won 3/4 races going this distance and doesn’t seem to ever stop wanting to run.

Race 12: Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/4 miles (10 furlongs) on the dirt

#2 Tiz the Law had his unbeaten streak in 2020 come to a halt when he fell short to Authentic in the Kentucky Derby (G1) in September. He didn’t draw the best post position, but he is the top choice and would be a perfect candidate to end 2020 on a high note. #4 Tom’s d’Etat left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth last time out in the Whitney Stakes (G1) at Saratoga. He stumbled out of the gate and was never able to make it back. Look for him to bounce back in a big way here for Al Stall Jr.
