Ricky’s Rockets ?: Aqueduct and Del Mar Picks for November 29, 2020

Ricky’s Rockets? had another strong Saturday afternoon but we aren’t done quite yet. Sunday afternoon always provides a great opportunity to end the weekend on a right note and make us feel strong about our handicapping!

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Del Mar.

Best of luck!

Race 7: Autumn Days Stakes for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the outer turf

#3 Risky Mischief has looked much better running on the turf than she ever did on the dirt. She’s just a neck away from being undefeated at this distance on both surfaces. #9 Lead Guitar has absolutely been rolling as of late. Since making her return to New York over the summer, she’s been undefeated including a stakes win in the Floral Park Stakes.

Race 8: Fall Highlight Handicap (G3) for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#6 Stan the Man will be happy to return to Aqueduct, one if his favorite tracks throughout his career. He’s amassed 5 wins here, and has finished in the money in 10/14 career starts as well. #7 Tribecca is also no stranger to this ground including 4 wins and finishing in the money in 9/15 starts. The difference is he will want to win on the lead as opposed to Stan the Man, who will want to sit just off of him down the backstretch.

Race 9: Tepin Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the inner turf

#2 Lovestruck was scratched out of two stakes races after breaking her maiden at the end of the summer at Saratoga. She showed talent in her debut but this is a decent size layoff for a two year old making only her second start. I don’t think she will win, but has to be included no matter what. #4 Invincible Gal was no match for the competition in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1) field earlier in the month. This field is obviously much easier and should play to her strengths as she looks for her first stakes win.

Race 10: $30,000 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the outer turf

#4 Grandmas Favorite takes the next logical step forward coming off of his first win at the $40,000 Maiden Claiming level. It was nice to see him forwardly placed, something he hadn’t been in his previous starts this year. #9 Propensity drops down from the Starter Allowance ranks to the Claiming ranks in a move that should make him the obvious choice. Either of his last two performances will see him in the winners’ circle to close out the day.
