Ricky’s Rockets ?: Aqueduct and Churchill Downs Picks for November 12, 2020

The Breeders’ Cup has officially ended, but the action rolls on Thursday afternoon from Aqueduct and Churchill Downs. The great thing about this sport is there are new headlines to look forward too, and the Pegasus World Cup is next January at Gulfstream Park!

Also included below: my 10-race preview of Churchill Downs.

Best of luck!

Race 6: $40,000 Maiden Claiming for New York-bred 2-year-olds going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

#7 Full of Fire drops in for a tag after finishing fifth at the Maiden Special Weight level. She makes sense on the drop down in class, and will be a short price for Horacio DePaz who’s gotten off to a good start at the meet. #9 Rosey’s Peach drops in for a tag for the first time after running against Maiden Special Weight competition. He should fare much better as he gets back to the dirt as well.

Race 7: $12,500 Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the dirt

#3 Fox Red has been challenged in his most recent starts at Monmouth Park for Wayne Potts. This level is comparable to what he’s been running at in New Jersey, so it’ll be interesting to see how he runs. Look for him to be forwardly placed, as he makes his return to Aqueduct. #4 Wushu Warrior didn’t run his best race last time out over a sloppy track at Belmont on October 30. Hopefully he can get back to some of his better performances last year.

Race 8: Allowance for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs) on the dirt

#1 V. I. P. Ticket will be making his Aqueduct debut after running in the Mid-Atlantic for the majority of his career. He’s finished in the money in 17/23 races, citing his ability to put forth consistent performances. #6 Our Last Buck hasn’t finished worse than second since January 25 here at Aqueduct. He is one of the more underrated runners in New York.

Race 9: $25,000 Maiden Claiming for 3-year-olds and upward going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#2 Unbridled John will be on the lead, making him someone bettors should value a little more. Runners that can be on the lead, tend to finish better since they don’t have the ability to pass runners in the stretch. #9 Tri Saint Lorenzo is 0/13 in his career, but his speed figures are just better than the other runners. He probably won’t win but he’s still a must add.
