Papa Dudes Free Saturday Picks For Ellis Park, Prairie Meadows, and Lone Star Park 7/10/21

Today let’s focus on Ellis Park, Prairie Meadows, and Lone Star Park. These 3 tracks are not among the big boys, but horse racing is horse racing, and you can win just as much at these as you can at Keeneland, Saratoga, or Oaklawn. Let’s get going!

Prairie Meadow: Race 8 One of the nice guys in racing and a good trainer, Kelly Von Hemel, sends out #5 Say it Nicely in this 30K claimer for non-winners of 2. He’s been knocking on the door in his three 2021 starts over the track, and he is shortening up to 6 furlongs, which should suit his early speed style.

The Bet: $10 to Win on #5

Prairie Meadows: Race 9 I like #5 Hunka Burning Love trained by Karl Broberg. This horse had a terrific 2020 season, winning 8 out of 15 starts, but has struggled returning to that form in 2021 winning just once in 6 starts. This appears to be a good spot for him today, though.

The Bet: $20 to Win on #5

Prairie Meadows: Races 8,9,10 ( 50-cent Pick 3) I’m going with a Pick-3 wager here using this 3-race sequence. In Race 8, I really like #5 Say it Nicely and I’m going to throw in #6 Toska’s Ruler and #3 Anothercoincidence. In the 9th I will single #5 Hunka Burning Love. I’m not as confident in Race 10 and I’m going to go 4 deep and hope for a price.

The Bet: 50-Cent Pick 3 (5,6,3 / 5 / 6,7,2,8) $6 Wager

Ellis Park: Race 1 This is a 5K claimer and Steve Asmussen sends out #7 Tumbling Sky. This horse has been running with much better company, and it a little worrisome that he is at this level. I still think he is worth a shot, though.

The Bet: $10 to Win on #7

Ellis Park: Race 2 Al Stall trains #3 Canadian Caper in this allowance race. In two starts, this filly has been near the lead, and has won both races.

Lone Star Park: Race 11 In the Assault Stakes I’m going with #2 Sunlit Song trained by Mindy Willis. He has won 4 out of 5 starts in 2021, including 2 other stakes races very similar to this one. I think he is worth a bet at 5-2 on the morning line.

The Bet $10 to Win on #2

Lone Star Park: Races (8,9,10,11) 50-cent Pick 4 This will be tough to hit as all 4 of these races are stakes and are competitive. I don’t like to bet a lot on Pick 4’s because they are difficult to figure, and usually someone out of the blue comes in and knocks me out, but let’s give it go here with high quality runners. In race 8, I’m going to assume that #7 Boeme is not going to run in this race because she is in Race 7 also, so keep that in mind. I’m going with 2,6,7 and hoping #7 Discreet Smile comes in at 10-1. In Race 9, I like the 6,7,and 3. In Race 10, I’m going to go short and take #6 Tengo Mis Papeles, and #8 Simply Wicked both trained by Bret Calhoun. And in the 11th, I’m going short again and banking on #2 Sunlit Song and #10 Kenai Bob.
