The Triple Crown series is past us and summer racing is in full swing along with the NHL and NBA Playoffs. My Picks: 2,5,7 My best bet pick is #2 Tenth of Gold trained by the Asmussen barn. This horse has been knocking at the door in all three of his starts and the connections have dropped him for a price today. I’ve bet on him a couple of times. Is the third time the charm?

My Picks: 9,3,7 I’m going with #9 Macron especially if the morning line of 9-2 holds up which it probably won’t. He finally broke his maiden in his fifth try and earned a high speed figure. I think the Asmussen barn has him figured out now and I’m hoping they will keep rolling.

The Bet: $10 Across on #9 (Confidence Level 3.5 out of 5)

Race 9: Allowance **Papa Dude Best Bet**

My Picks: 6,5,7 I’m going with #6 Dominga trained by Brad Cox. This filly has been running in Stakes races and the connections have dropped her into Allowance company as they try to get her into the win column. Her recent start was sixth in a G3 where she challenged before weakening in the stretch. But that race was at a mile and a half and this one is one mile and an eighth. That could be the difference.

My Picks: 3,7,8 (Confidence Level 3 out of 5)

Papa Dude Best Sports Plays of the Day

The NHL gets back into action today as they are down to the Final Four in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and we have a great game on tap.

New York Islanders at Tampa Bay

This promises to be a doozy of a series as both teams are playing well. The upstart Islanders have upset the Penguins and the Bruins to get here. They are getting good goaltending which is a must in the playoffs and are well-coached and full of momentum. However, they have a different animal in this round as they now have to face the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Tampa has had two great series so far and have defeated Florida and Carolina which was no easy task. They are so versatile and can play any style that they have too. Since my beloved Blues are out they are my next favorite team left in the playoffs.

My Pick: Tampa Bay (Confidence Level 4.5 out of 5)

In the NBA we are still in the 2nd round and there are 2 games on tap for Sunday.

Brooklyn at Milwaukee

The Bucks were impressive on Thursday as they defeated the Nets to get back into the series after losing the first two in New York. Can they rebound and take Game 4 against the more talented Nets?

My Pick: Brooklyn -2. (Confidence Level 2.5 out of 5)

Phoenix at Denver

The Suns have put a beat-down on the Nuggets and lead the series 3-0. After they beat the Lakers handily they became my pick to come out of the West and get to the finals. They are too balanced for the Nuggets and should bring out the brooms and finish the sweep,
