Handicapping NYRA Preview: Belmont Park 10/25 October 24, 2019 Handicapping NYRA Preview: Belmont Park 10/25 October 24, 2019 By: Ricky Pasternak email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article With only a couple of days left at Belmont Park, there are still plenty of opportunities to end the meet on a strong note. I’ve previewed three maiden special weight (MSW) races. The meet has been very strong for me and I look to finish the last few days on the right note. Belmont Meet Statistics (9/6 through 10/24): Races Top 4 Wins Top 4 Exactas Top 4 Trifectas Top 4 Supers 59 44 31 17 6 ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Race 1: $75,000 MSW for 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8.5 furlongs) on the dirt #1 Mrs. S comes into this race with a lot of hype after failing to live up to expectations in her first start on September 14. Similar to the field she faces today, there were a lot of runners making their debut. She didn’t run poorly in her debut but at 4/5 she didn’t send bettors home happy. Todd Pletcher makes the switch from Manny Franco to Jose Ortiz who is one of his go to jockeys. The experience she took from her debut should help her win here today at a very short price. Ricky’s Picks: 1-3-4-5 Credit: NYRA Race 2: $62,000 MSW for 2 -year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8.5 furlongs) on the inner turf #1 Jazzy Lady didn’t break out of the gate Raymond Handal had hoped. She had a very awkward beginning that set her back quite a way. Luis Saez’s hand was forced and changed the outlook of the race. One thing that was discovered was her ability to close down the stretch late. Had she been given that extra 1/16 of a mile that she’s getting today, she would’ve won that race with ease. Luis Saez to position her properly to get that late kick that she showed in her debut. Ricky’s Picks: 1-3-9-7 Credit: NYRA Race 6: $75,000 MSW for 2-year-old fillies going 7 furlongs on the Widener turf Christophe Clement finds the right spot with his filly #6 Logic N Reason. This is a very competitive field, but this will be the easiest field this filly has run in. Last time out, she lost to Alms who has won both of her career starts at Belmont Park, the latter of which was a win in the Grade III Matron Stakes. She also has proven with each start, that the more distance she gets, the more it will help. I expect her to be second or third choice around 5/1 and needs to be included on all multi-race tickets. Ricky’s Picks: 6-13-5-4 ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Good luck to everyone playing and be sure to follow me on Twitter @RickyP_15 for more NYRA race previews as we take a look at Belmont Park!
