NYRA Preview: Belmont Park 10/14

NYRA Preview: Belmont Park 10/14

A special Belmont Park card is on deck as Columbus Day gives us racing fans 6 cards this week! Today’s feature is the Grade II Knickerbocker Stakes which has seen Christophe Clement win this race back-to-back with Blacktype. Can Catholic Boy show his prowess and make it a career 6-for-7 on the turf? There’s only one maiden special weight (MSW) race today, but my top pick ran against Cambier Parc, a multi-graded stakes winners on the turf.

Race 6: $75,000 MSW for fillies and mares 3-years-old and upward going 7 furlongs on the widener turf

Christophe Clement sends another turf runner to the track with #3 Smack. She ran very well back on September 22 after a not having run for nine months after running against eventual winner Cambier Parc at Gulfstream Park. She makes her debut doing 7 furlongs which should suit her well. She has some early speed but likes to run stalking the front-runners. There should be some early speed down to her inside which gives Joel Rosario the perfect opportunity to pick his spot for her and give her the best chance to improve on her last start.

Ricky’s Picks: 3-7-5-1
