NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 2/22

NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 2/22

Another Saturday at the Big A is here highlighted by the feature race on the card, the Haynesfield Stakes. Will Mr. Buff take the field of six gate-to-wire, or will another runner take him down as he looks to pass the million dollar career lifetime earnings mark. There are also two maiden special weight (MSW) races on today’s card that I’ve broken down as another great day of racing is here!

Race 3: $60,000 MSW for New-York-bred 3-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the dirt

We have waited a long time for the debut of #3 Honey Money, who will make her debut for the Linda Rice barn. She is by Central Banker, who was a fantastic sprinter during his time on the track. Linda Rice has raved about this filly and her morning works certainly match that positive thinking. She should be the heavy favorite in this group, but everything suggests she will be up to the task in her debut.

Race 6: $60,000 MSW for New-York-bred 3-year-olds going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#1 Aintitfunkynow will make his fourth career start for Mike Maker but things are very different this time around. In his last two races, he started coming out of the 11 and 12 post. In both of those efforts, he was very wide as he came down the stretch. Today, he gets the inside post which should help him immensely. He also gets Manny Franco aboard, who was able to get his best effort out of him last time out on January 24.
