NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 12/12

The winter meet at the Big A kicks off with an eight race card that will mark the beginning of a new meet. I will look to kick off the new meet the right way which will include the two maiden special weight (MSW) races that I’ve previewed.

Race 3: $68,000 MSW for 3-years-old and upward going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt

Danny Gargin looks to kick off the winter meet at the Big A on the right foot with his lightly raced 3-year-old #5 Alan’s Argument. He made his debut at the beginning of November at Aquedect but was hustled out of the gate after being bumped early on. Since his fourth-place effort at Aqueduct, he has posted two bullet works, one on November 21 and December 1. Look for him to break much better out of the gate and impose his will on this field.

Ricky’s Picks: 5-7-6-3

Race 5: $68,000 MSW for 2-year-old fillies going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

#8 Indawin comes into this race after a second-place finish in his last start on November 15. The eventual winner, Water White, ran a very game second in the Grade II Demoiselle Stakes this past Saturday. I expect Persisto to get out front the same way she did last time when these two faced each other. Indawin is much more versatile and gives Manny Franco to sit right off Persisto or sit 4-5 lengths back and storm home late.
