NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 12/1

The Big A is destined to bring excitement today as we begin a new month. The Empire 6 has now rose to over $520,000 as the new month begins. I’ve previewed the two maiden special weight races on the card with a slight caveat. Rain and snow are in the forecast for Aqueduct so it’s vital to pay attention to the scratches and changes prior to post-time.

Race 4: $62,000 MSW for New-York-bred 2-year-olds going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt

The weather is expected to play a major factor as we close out the weekend and with that being said, there’s one colt who has enjoyed an off-track in the past. #3 True Grace ran very well in the mud on October 4 at Belmont Park. I expect Joel Rosario to put him on the front in this race and utilize the off-track to True Grace’s liking as we kick off the Empire 6.

Ricky’s Picks: 3-2-7-4

Race 6: $62,000 MSW for New-York-bred 2-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the dirt

Gary Contessa has the quickest horse in this race in #7 New York Supreme. She showed her quickness in her debut three weeks ago here at the Big A going 6 1/2 furlongs. She led the entire way by multiple lengths but got nosed out by Myawaya at the wire. New York Supreme cuts back slightly to this 6-furlong sprint and should make very easy work of this field.
