Lake Avenue lived up to the hype as she romped the field yesterday winning by double-digit lengths. Today, there are two more maiden special weight (MSW) races that I’ve previewed, as we look to start the weekend on a positive note.

Race 3: $70,000 MSW foe 2-year-old fillies going 1 mile (8 furlongs) on the dirt
It’s very rare that we get to see such a small field of 2-year-old fillies go a mile on the dirt this late in the year. #3 Water White was scratched on November 9 listed as a Stewards’ scratch. Her best race was her most recent one back on October 5, where she finished second by just over a length. She has shown that she needs a mile to hit her best stride and this race suits that. She should be the favorite and should be singled on multi-race tickets.

Race 6: $62,000 MSW for New-York-bred 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles (8.5 furlongs) on the inner turf
Anytime Christophe Clement has a 2-year-old on the turf I take a closer look. In this situation, his runner #8 Pandamom comes into this race with everything that a 2-year-old making debut needs. Christophe Clement and Junior Alvarado have combined to win at 25% in 2019. She also comes into this race sired by Uncle Mo who has sired amazing 2-year-olds such as Bast and Donna Veloce. Pandamom has the opportunity to make a big splash in her debut and have racing fans think about her in a special light as a 3-year-old.
