Handicapping NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 1/9 January 9, 2020 Handicapping NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 1/9 January 9, 2020 By: Ricky Pasternak email Share: share on facebook share on twitter share on linkedin email this article Racing at the Big A returns with an eight race card on this Thursday afternoon. There are two maiden special weight (MSW) races that I’ve previewed for today. Will the big favorites stroll home, or will a long shot surprise the field and light up the tote board? Aqueduct Fall Meet Statistics (11/7-1/8) Races Top 4 Wins Top 4 Exactas Top 4 Trifectas Top 4 Supers 43 31 19 6 1 ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Race 2: $ 60,000 MSW for New-York-bred fillies and mares 4-years-old and upward going 1 mile on the dirt #4 Petalite comes into this field of six having put in one of her best performances in 2019. In her last start, she broke away very well out of the gate and was within a length of Freddymo Factor the entire race. Unfortunately for Petalite, Freddymo Factor was able to set the fractions and hold her off down the stretch. Petalite should be able to set the fractions today and go gate-to-wire in a group that has failed to show early speed. Ricky’s Picks: 4-6-2-5 Credit: NYRA Race 4: $60,000 MSW for New-York-bred 4-year-olds going 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt Six out of the seven entries in this group faced each other on November 24 at the Big A. One of the best performances out of that group was #6 Quickflash. He started that race at almost 21/1 and outran his odds by a ton. Operation Roses was a heavy favorite coming into that race and looked the part. The track was in terrible shape and the way Operation Roses got off to that start, no one was catching him. Quickflash was the best of the rest and should improve off of back to back bullet works in the mornings on December 16 and December 23.
