NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 1/4

After the festive period, racing at the Big A returns in a new calendar year. There are nine races on the card and one maiden special weight (MSW) race that I’ve previewed. Linda Rice has a 3-year-old colt who looks the part as this crop of maidens looks to start 2020 the right way.

Race 3: $60,000 MSW for New-York-bred 3-year-olds going 6 furlongs on the dirt

Linda Rice has absolutely dominated Aqueduct this winter and I don’t expect that to stop anytime soon. Her 3-year-old colt #1 First Deputy has shown a lot of consistency in his career outside of two starts back on November 7. This is the weakest field that he will be in and is the class of this group. It also helps that the weather at the Big A will play a factor today and looked good on an off-track last time out.
