NYRA Preview: Aqueduct 1/26

Yesterday was a great day of racing across the country and just one of many to come as the derby trail begins to pick up. The Pegasus World Cup Turf/Dirt lived up to the hype with Zulu Alpha and Mucho Gusto winning their respective races. Mr. Buff dominated the Jazil Stakes here at Aqueduct for the second year in a row, as he took advantage of Sir Winston being scratched due to the racetrack conditions. As we end the weekend, there is one maiden special weight (MSW) race that I’ve previewed today in the opener at the Big A.

Race 1: $68,000 MSW for 4-years-old and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

Jason Servis has dominated Aqueduct this meet winning at 31% and having been in the money with 22/26 runners. He has a lightly raced 4-year-old colt by Uncle Mo in #2 Fast Break. His career has been disappointing to say the least, but he does have early speed. He has had gate issues in the past but that has not stopped him from getting to the lead. The cutback from a mile to 7 furlongs should help this colt tremendously and is certainly the horse to beat.
