Jackie’s Warrior Wins Pat Day Mile Thriller

LOUISVILLE, KY  – Jackie’s Warrior set a blistering pace and had enough left to hold off Dream Shake by a head after a thrilling stretch duel to win the 97th running of the $500,000 Pat Day Mile (G2) presented by LG&E and KU.

“I was pretty confident that he was going to hang in down the stretch. He likes when a horse comes up to him and he really digs in. I was not worried about the fast early pace because he fights very hard down the stretch.” said winning jockey Joel Rosario.

Dream Shake, Whiskey Double, Defunded completed the order of finish. Ultimate Badger was a scratch from the Pat Day Mile.

This was the fourth career graded stake win for Jackie’s Warrior and first since the Champagne Stakes (G1) to improve his career record to 7-5-0-1. The 3-year-old son of Maclean’s Music has now earned $868,964 for owners J. Kirk and Judy Robison.

“I’m proud of who Jackie’s Warrior is, under these circumstances, only validates of the beliefs we had in him. It’s quite obvious that he’s a special horse and there are plenty of opportunities for him out there that will serve his assets best.” Said winning trainer Steve Asmussen.

Jackie’s Warrior returned $6.60 to win, $4.20 to place, and $3.30 to show.
