In this leg our second choice, #2 Baby Boss, came home first and paid $25.40 to win. This obviously was a great kick start to the sequence. The horse seemed like an easy one to include. Even though she was beaten badly last time out, she was dropping down in class for this race after running on the NYRA circuit for most of her career. She should not have paid $25.40!

The #3 Rip Rap Riley got his nose down here first, paying $21.40 to win. This one was a little hard to get to after just one start, where he finished a well-beaten 9th. However, he faced a much easier field today, dropping from a maiden special weight to maiden claiming. That is often described as the biggest drop in horse racing. He was also one of only two horses that had made a start in the race. It was clear that experience paid off!

This leg was critical. We only used the 2 and 3 here. The 2 was a heavy favorite at 6/5 that we nearly singled, but the 3 at 9/2 was dropping back to allowance company after running poorly in stakes races. Luckily, the 3 regained her form for the win, as the heavy favored 2 failed to even hit the board. Beating a heavy favorite in a Pick 4 sequence is the key to a prime time score, which is something we have covered at length on podcasts and articles. Mission accomplished!

The nerves were flowing at this point! However, there was little drama down the stretch as our top choice #3 My Chesa Charm turned for home with a commanding lead, with #9 Dat Dares Gold being the only one closing. We had both horses; however, the 9 was paying significantly better than the 3. By the time they hit the wire the 9 had caught and passed the 3, completing the MASSIVE SCORE!! Once again, as the theme of the entire sequence, the #9 Dat Dares Gold was dropping down in class to a $5K claimer after several attempts at the $8K claiming level.
