Closing Day’s Del Mar Futurity Picks and Analysis

Bob Baffert will look for his 15^th win in today’s $300,000 Runhappy Del Mar Futurity (G1) with runners Eight Rings and Garth, both making their second career starts.

A field of eight are entered, where three different trainers (Baffert, Doug O’Neill, and Peter Miller) have entered two horses each.

The Del Mar Futurity field from the rail out: Storm the Court (5/1), Eight Rings (5/2), Defense Wins (12/1), Ginobili (6/1), Garth (5/1), Fore Left (8/1), Nucky (8/1) and Wrecking Crew (7/2).

“They’re both doing well, one will be favored and the other will be close, so I just hope they run to their odds,” Baffert said earlier this week regarding his runners. “Garth’s race was a real head-scratcher. We thought for sure he would win, but before they run you never know.”

The Del Mar Futurity is slated as Race 9 on today’s 10-race card, which also features the $100,000 Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf Stakes in Race 6.

Today’s Closing Day card at Del Mar will also feature a $307,148.27 added to the Pick 6 for the Mandatory Payout. The Pick Six starts with Race 5.
