Breeze On By, Princess Secret Win Affirmed, Susan’s Girl

HALLANDALE BEACH, FL – Stonehedge homebred Breeze On By and owner/trainer Daniel Pita’s Princess Secret won Saturday’s $200,000 Affirmed Stakes and $200,000 Susan’s Girl Stakes, respectively.

Both 7-furlong dirt sprints at Gulfstream Park are part of the FTBOA Florida Sire series.

In the Affirmed, Breeze On By showed exactly why he was the 4/5 favorite under Emisael Jaramillo, dominating the field of juvenile males by 7 1/2 lengths.

The Ralph Nicks-trained Cajun Breeze gelding is perfect through 3 starts (including the FTBOA Dr. Fager last time out) and has now earned $223,000.

Breeze On By returned $3.60 to win, $2.60 to place, and $2.10 to show. Big Daddy Dave brought back $4.40 to place and $3.40 to show, while Seazan paid $5 to show.

Two races earlier in the Susan’s Girl, Princess Secret and jockey Miguel Vasquez held gamely in the stretch to win by 3/4 of a length as the 7/5 favorite.

The Florida-bred Khozan filly improved her record to 4-2-2-0 and has now earned $194,300.

Princess Secret returned $4.80 to win, $3.20 to place, and $2.40 to show. Oh Deborah brought back $4.80 to place and $3 to show, while Go Jo Jo Go paid $2.40 to show.
