The Trapeze is a dirt mile restricted to juvenile fillies. This year’s edition is the 11th event on a 13-race card that includes the Springboard Mile and has a local post time of 9:57 PM. ( Content Continues Below Ad ) Here’s a look at the full field for the Trapeze: 1. Miss Twenty 10/1 – She’s cross-entered in a Saturday optional claiming event, but wherever she runs, she’ll be making her first start since trainer Chris Hartman claimed her for $75k out of a third-place finish over this course and distance. Hartman only hits at 9% first off the claim, but he and named jockey Ken Tohill have won 5 of their past 11 shared mounts. 2. Oliviaofthedesert 7/2 – She returns to the stakes ranks after defeating optional claiming rivals in a Churchill Downs one-turn dirt mile event last month, her second career score. She broke her maiden routing over the Ellis Part dirt in August, then finished third in the Mint Juvenile Fillies, fifth in the Alcibiades (G1), and third in the Rags to Riches. 3. Cecile’s Chapter 4/1 – She’s entered into a true dirt race for the first time after defeating first-level allowance rivals at Keeneland in a 1 1/16-mile off-turf event. She broke her maiden on debut over the Indiana Grand lawn in August and wheeled back 2 weeks later to finish within a neck of Oliviaofthedesert in the Mint Juvenile Fillies before her off-turf score. 4. Sorority Row 20/1 – She returns to the main track after breaking her maiden over the local lawn last time out in her first grass try. She lost by a combined 22 1/4 lengths in her 2 prior dirt tries and will need to massively improve upon her past Beyer Speed Figures if she hopes to contend here, but trainer Matt Hebert has won 5 of his past 15 similar surface swaps. 5. Silver Devil 10/1 – She steps up to the stakes ranks for her second career start after breaking her maiden over this course and distance in October, displaying tenacity not often seen from a debuter. Stewart Elliott (aboard that day) chose to ride her stablemate Simply Sovereign here, but trainer Steve Asmussen and new jockey Iram Diego hit at 24% together. Paydiem 12/1 – Fourth time was the charm for her to break her maiden, which came over this course and distance 2 weeks ago. She was second by a 1/2-length under the same conditions in the start prior, which was her first with jockey Lane Luzzi aboard. Luzzi and trainer Danny Pish have connected at 26% with a $3.44 ROI in their past 95 shared local mounts. 7. Tiz Splendid News 5/1 – The first of two entries from Wesley Ward, she missed by a nose while making her career debut against males on the Kentucky Downs turf. She was then a resounding 7 1/4-length victor in an off-turf fast dirt mile try at Keeneland, but she gave way late and finished fourth last time out behind Oliviaofthedesert. 8. Fast N Fine Worker 10/1 – She broke her maiden by 18 eye-popping lengths over this course and distance in her second career start after a forgetable debut. She was no match for Cecile’s Chapter in that rival’s latest victory, but she missed by just a 1/2-length last time out while facing males, including the winner (and Springboard Mile contender) Red N Wild. 9. Credit Enhancement 10/1 – She makes her Oklahoma racing debut after trainer Oscar Flores claimed her for $30k out of a maiden-breaking score in a 6-furlong dirt sprint at Churchill Downs. She was a $180,000 purchase as a yearling and began her career with top-level trainer Chad Brown, so she should have a good foundation for Flores to build upon. 10. Simply Sovereign 6/1 – Asmussen’s second entry is technically undefeated through 2 career starts after breaking her maiden by 7 lengths on debut in a local 6-furlong dirt sprint, then getting kissed up from second via disqualification against optional claimers. That latter effort came over this course and distance and saw her defeat Miss Twenty, among others. 11. Run Slewpy Run 20/1 – She steps up to face open company rivals for the first time after defeating her fellow Oklahoma-breds in a local 6-furlong maiden special weight last time out. The Mike Jones homebred finished a well-beaten fifth in her lone prior route attempt, but that came over a sloppy main track and at the state-bred stakes level.
