Ricky’s Rockets ?: Belmont Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita Park Picks for October 17, 2020

Another Saturday in the fall is here, which means more and more stakes races! Belmont Park, Keeneland, and Santa Anita all have stakes races and have 10 races on their respective cards. Catch all of the action here as always, including my late Pick 4 from Belmont Park!

Race 7: Maiden Special Weight for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt OFF TURF

WILL BE USING: #6 WUDDA U THINK NOW AND #11 ERNIE BANKER

Race 8: Allowance for New York-bred 3-year-olds and upward going 1 1/16 miles (8 1/2 furlongs) on the dirt

#4 Cold Hard Cash steps back up to the Allowance level for Linda Rice. Since 2020 has began, he’s finished first twice and second once in three career starts. #7 Six Percent has tried this level on multiple occasions, but looks the second best on paper behind Cold Hard Cash.

Race 9: Floral Park Stakes for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 6 furlongs on the inner turf

#5 Xanthique is still in search for her first stakes win after finishing fourth in the One Dreamer Stakes at Kentucky Downs last time out. She would be great value at 5/1 come post time.

Race 10: $40,000 Allowance Optional Claiming for New York-bred fillies and mares 3-year-olds and upward going 7 furlongs on the dirt

#4 Good Credence has finished second and fifth at this level, albeit the fifth place finish was after she was DQ’d from third. All of her wins have come from when she’s been on the lead. Junior Alvarado rides for the fourth straight race. #7 Letmetakethiscall won at this level for her old trainer back at Saratoga to end the meet. She proved she needs to be on the lead to win at this level, but there will be some speed to contend with on the front end. If she can settle into the race early on, watch out as she looks to make it two in a row.
