With all due respect to Gretzky the Great winning the Summer Stakes (G1) and earning a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1), these are who we thought earned the right to be called the Three Stars of the Week: ( Content Continues Below Ad ) 1. Starship Jubilee There’s something special about a horse who just knows how to consistently win at an elite level. Starship Jubilee took on seven males in Saturday’s Woodbine Mile (G1) and came out on top for career win 19. The 7-year-old mare has run several of the best races of her life this year and could very well be bound for the Breeders’ Cup – though will it come in the Mile, where she earned a spot with her victory? 2. Lady Speightspeare Though she broke her maiden in gate-to-wire fashion, Lady Speightspeare tried a new stalking trip and found similar success in Sunday’s Natalma Stakes (G1) to punch her ticket to the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1). She also showed grit and determination to hold off stakes winner Alda to secure the victory. Both fillies could be headed to the World Championships for their next starts. 3. Magic Attitude It wasn’t exactly the greatest Grade 1 field that you’ll ever see, but Magic Attitude’s victory in Saturday’s Belmont Oaks Invitational Stakes (G1) was still impressive, and for multiple reasons. She circled the five-horse field with ease and swept past a loose leader who set an easy pace, and jockey Javier Castellano rode her like a surefire winner from the very start. Add to those factors that this was her North American debut, and you have the recipe for a very nice horse.
