( Content Continues Below Ad ) Breaking from post 4 under David Moran, Rideforthecause settled off the pace and saved ground heading down the backstretch. Up front, Another Time posted opening fractions of :23.80 and :46.55 while Amalfi Coast and the 4/5 favorite Cambier Parc gave closest watch. Given the cue halfway through the far turn, Rideforthecause split rivals before tipping out to make a four-wide bid near the top of the stretch. Cambier Parc held the lead until mid-stretch, when Rideforthecause swept past and drew off to win by 4 lengths. The Gail Cox trainee posted a final time of 1:45.00 for the 1 1/8-mile firm turf event. “I had a great trip,” Moran said. “She settled back there nice and relaxed. I got a nice inside move … and just got myself in a good position to take on (Cambier Parc), and when I felt her picking up and kicking by him, I said, ‘Oh, we have a shot to win this!’ and she kept going very gamely.” Cambier Parc ran on to hold second by 2 1/4 lengths over Court Return, herself 2 3/4 lengths ahead of Elizabeth Way. Bold Script, Art of Almost, Another Time, and Amalfi Coast completed the order of finish. Runway Dreamer and Theodora B. were scratched. Rideforthecause’s win was her first at the stakes level and improved her overall record to 10-4-0-1. The Ontario-bred 4-year-old Candy Ride filly has now earned $263,931. “This filly loves this distance,” said Cox. “I think she’s run really well this year. She had one race where she was sort of too close to the pace and didn’t run the greatest, but she’s a tough filly. She just hasn’t had the opportunity to get the distance very often.” Rideforthecause returned $47.20 to win, $14.50 to place, and $9 to show. Cambier Parc brought back $3.20 to place and $2.70 to show, while Court Return paid $8.90 to show.
