Here we go: 1. Aaron Halterman (3/5) Art Collector – He’ll point to the Preakness Stakes (G1) after a minor injury forced him to miss the Derby. Azul Coast – He did very little running in his turf debut. Authentic – Wow! His upset Kentucky Derby (G1) win put this team ahead going into the final points race. Little Menace – His Ellis Park Derby effort was not very good. Pneumatic – A solid win in the Pegasus Stakes (G3) at Monmouth Park has him heading to the Preakness Stakes (G1). 2. The Magic Mike Show (4/5) Tiz the Law – After his shocking Kentucky Derby (G1) defeat, this team falls to second place. Modernist – He has completely fallen off of his earlier form after two straight poor efforts and has not worked since July. Dr Post – He once again struggled to an off-the-board finish in the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2). Enforceable – He was more forwardly-placed than usual in the Kentucky Derby (G1), but he could only finish seventh. Tizamagician – The team mascot picked up a HUGE win in a Del Mar allowance to keep them close! 3. Paul “Free Beers” Withrow (50/1) Thousand Words – He flipped in the paddock and had to be scratched from the Derby. It looks like he’ll now point to the Preakness Stakes (G1). Cezanne – He scratched from the Pat Day Mile (G2) last weekend and his next start is unknown. Nadal – Unfortunately, he came up lame after a workout and is reportedly heading off to stud duty. Necker Island – He did very little running in the Kentucky Derby (G1). Caracaro – This horse turned out to be a fantastic claim, despite an injury that set him back earlier in the year. He came with a big run to finish second in the Travers Stakes (G1). 4. Jon White/Ryan Stillman (99/1) Honor A. P. – A troubled trip cause him to finish off the board in the Kentucky Derby (G1). Cafe Pharoah – This claim turned into a flop. Basin – His connections cut him back to one-turn races after a lackluster performance in the Blue Grass Stakes (G2). Tap It to Win – He is a decent horse, but this claim did not work out well from a fantasy perspective. Uncle Chuck – This claim was a major flop in the Travers Stakes (G1). 5. Dan “Wise Dan” Waite (99/1) Sonneman – He ran a much-improved race last time out, finishing second in the Pat Day Mile (G2). Swiss Skydiver – She still ran well in defeat, finishing second in the Kentucky Oaks (G1). Man in the Can – He ran how you’d expect an Arkansas-bred to do in the Blue Grass Stakes (G2). Max Player – He came up empty in the Kentucky Derby (G1). Mystic Guide – He came up with a big effort in his last start, winning the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) impressively. ( Content Continues Below Ad ) 6. Mike “Saratoga Slim” Spector (99/1) Structor – He will miss the entire year with minor injuries that keep popping up. Ny Traffic – This colt had some steam going into the Derby, but his jockey decided to mess with other horses instead of riding his own. Charlatan – His Arkansas Derby (G1) victory-turned-disqualification cost Slim 50 points and any chance of contending for the championship. Country Grammer – He proved in the Travers Stakes (G1) that he is nowhere near the top of his class. No Parole – He will continuing sprinting in the Phoenix Stakes (G2) at Keeneland. 7. Real Dynasty (99/1) Green Light Go – He has struggled to run well or even stay healthy all season. Happy Saver – He looked good in the Federico Tesio Stakes at Laurel, earning an entry into the Preakness Stakes (G1). Creed – Who knows where he will start next after he skipped the Jim Dandy Stakes (G2). Rushie – It turned out to be a great move for this horse to skip the Derby; he won the Pat Day Mile (G2) on the undercard. Sole Volante – This horse did very little running in the Kentucky Derby (G1). 8. Jared Welch (99/1) Candy Tycoon – Surprise! He sucked in a recent Saratoga allowance race. Eight Rings – He sucked again (big surprise) in the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1). Toledo – He put up another sucky performance in a recent allowance race at Churchill Downs. Shoplifted – He did his normal sucky run in the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1). Ete Indien – He’s now pointed to the Preakness Stakes (G1), where he’ll probably suck. 9. Brandon “B$” Bauer (99/1) Dennis’ Moment – Once the most hyped horse in the class at age 2, he raced just once this year before falling off of the Kentucky Derby trail. High Velocity – It was good to see this team get points in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3), but he was far from impressive. He returned to the worktab at Monmouth Park, so he could be with a new trainer. Silver Prospector – He was a no-show once again in the Arkansas Derby (G1). Thunder Code – We have not seen this maiden since he was drafted and chances are slim that we ever will. Major Fed – He was a non-factor in the Kentucky Derby (G1), but his 10 points for starting in the race could go a long way toward keeping this team out of last. 10. Austin Elsey/Steve “Evil Steveil” Ronchetto (99/1) Mischevious Alex – He failed to earn this team any points in the H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1). Mr. Big News – Wow, this horse somehow finished third in the Kentucky Derby (G1), giving this team a sliver of hope to get out of last place. Shivaree – He sucked once again in the Travers Stakes (G1). King Guillermo – This team just cannot catch a break; he was a late scratch from the Derby, but will hopefully point to the Preakness Stakes (G1). Wells Bayou – Trainer Brad Cox announced on June 10 that he is off the Derby trail due to bone bruising.
